Monkey Dance-Entertainment on the Roads

Even twenty years back, Monkey Dance on the streets of the cities may be seen in India. On Sunday or any vacation morning or within the afternoon or early evening, one might see one monkey master carrying 2 monkeys (without two it’s hardly entertaining) tied in strings and prepared to indicate the performance of the monkeys on demand. Such dance invariably attracted youngsters and teenagers a great deal. The observers had to pay the monkey master some money to observe the monkey dance. There is little question about the way the monkeys get trained and perform the dance is very entertaining extremely amusing to observe however what we tend to forget is the torture these animals got to bear during their training.

In India, there has been awareness regarding wildlife conservation and protection of animals for last couple of years and plenty of organizations are also working towards it and governments have created laws to guard animals and plants. Monkey Dance is prohibited under Wildlife Protection Act in India as varied organizations like PETA (People For Ethical Treatment For animals) have raised their voices against tortures of animals while they get trained. Even if there are so much awareness and strict laws are there, one could still see monkey trainers roaming with their monkey on the streets in the small town though in the cities they are hardly seen.

Monkey Dance India

Apart from giving cash to the monkeys, the spectators often offer them with fruits and other food materials. During the dance typically one monkey is dressed as a girl and the other one is dressed as the boy. They dance on the popular song of the film industry and the monkey trainer even call the monkeys by the names of popular actor and actresses. The very entertaining act that these monkeys perform is the Indian marriage. The monkey dressed as girl puts the dust from the road as face powder and additionally wears sunglass to appear smart.

The animals additionally need protection and higher lifestyle. Unless we tend to raise our voices against the torture of these animals, they will never get into better life. Time has come to boost our voices against this cruelty and shameful act.
